LEFT OUT

ELEVATE
Gallery 72, Atlanta, GA 2017
LEFT OUT brings awareness to the modern plight and treatment of veterans in America. From the battlefield, to civilian life, Carlos Thompson and his wife Morgan Carlisle have created art based on their experiences of attaining “normalcy”. There is a dual purpose to this show as art has the ability to help process and heal traumatic events. LEFT OUT gives those who served the outlet to express themselves, and move towards a place of understanding as others learn to understand them.
“We want to provide insights to the subculture of battle-hardened veterans. LEFT OUT educates and promotes a public discussion about those who have suffered mental and physical trauma during and after war.” -Morgan Carlisle
Winner of Idea Capital’s first Margaret Kargbo Artist as Activist Grant, LEFT OUT features performance, found art, poetry, testimonials, video and panel discussions with participating veterans who have been brought into the creative process.
